Winter is a great time to get cozy in the kitchen and try new twists on your favorite comfort food recipes. We have lots of ways for you to add a little ZING! KICK! TWIST! or BURST! to your life and we strive to keep it simple.
Following are some Smiling Sauce Snacks suitable for any winter gathering. We decided to paste our Hors D’Oeuvres list right here on our home page but make sure you check out the drop down tabs under recipes for more ideas this winter.

KICK!’N Sweet ‘N Sour Meatballs
- 2 lbs Cocktail Size Meatballs (frozen or make your own with our KICK!’n recipe from below)
- 1 Cup KICK!
- 2 Cups all natural jelly, we use pomegranate but you can use grape or any berry jelly
In a sauce pan heat the KICK! and jelly. Gently toss meat balls in the sauce, and place on a serving platter with toothpicks.
KICK’n Meatballs
• 1.5 lbs lean ground beef
• 2 slices bread, blended or torn into crumbs
• 1 egg
• 1/2 c minced onions
• 1 tsp kosher salt
• 1/2 tsp black pepper
• 1/2 cup KICK!
Preheat oven to 375
Spray a sheet pan with cooking spray
Place ingredients in a bowl, mix well
Form into 1” meatballs and place on the sheet pan
Place in the oven and bake for 20 minutes
Fiesta Cheese Dip (party size, can be halved)
• 16 oz cream cheese (2 blocks)
• 16 oz sliced American or Velvita cheese
• 1/4-1/3 cup ZING!
• 3/4 cup chopped fresh tomatoes
Place both cheeses in a microwave safe bowl. Microwave for a minute at a time, stirring in-between. When the cheeses are almost melted, stir in the ZING! and tomatoes. Return to the microwave and heat until completely melted and warm, about 1 minute more. Serve with tortilla chips, crackers, or fresh veggies.
KICK! & TWIST! Wings
- 3-4 lbs Chicken Wing Drummettes (wings that are cut in half)
- 1 jar KICK!
- 1 jar TWIST!
- 1 tsp salt
- 1/4 tsp black pepper
Place all ingredients in a gallon size ziplock bag. Marinate for 8-12 hours. Place the drummettes on a sprayed sheet pan (with edges). Spoon a little of the marinade on top of each wing, and make sure they’re not touching each other. Place in a 350 oven and bake for 40 minutes.
ZING!y Shrimp Spread
- 12 oz Cream Cheese (regular or low fat), softened
- 2 cups cooked Shrimp, roughly chopped
- 2/3 cup Zing!
- Mix & serve with your favorite crackers or sliced French bread
Brie and TWIST! or BURST!
- carefully slice off the top rind of a 6″ round of Brie, place on cookie sheet
- heat at 300 degrees in the oven for 15 minutes
- in a sauce pan on the stove top heat 2/3 of a cup of TWIST! or BURST! on low-medium heat until warm
- remove Brie from cookie sheet- place on serving platter- pour warm sauce over brie
- serve with sliced french bread and crackers
TWIST! or BURST! Dip
- 16 oz cream cheese
- 1/2 cup TWIST! or BURST!
- optional 1/2 cup any chopped nuts (we like BURST! with cashews or walnuts and slivered almonds if you make it with TWIST!)
- In a bowl mix all together and serve with crackers or sliced French Bread
ZING! Dip
In a bowl mix:
- 1/2 cup low fat cream cheese
- 1/2 cup low fat sour cream
- 1/2 cup ZING!
Serve with fresh veggies, potato chips, tortillas, pita chips or cracker
